10. Falz

Popularly called by his stage name, “Falz”. Folarin Falana is the third-best rapper in Nigeria.

Falz is a popular rapper, singer, actor, and songwriter who became very popular after releasing his debut album titled “WAZ UP GUY” in 2014.

In 2014, Falz gained more love from his fans with his raps and performance in different songs. Amazing ones that dominated the market hard; namely “Jamb Question” with Simi and “Soldier”.

The awards won by Falz cuts across music, comedy, and movie at both local and international levels. His Moral Instruction album was probably the best album of Nigeria in 2019 across all genres.

Emeka Akumefule, well known by his stage name Blaqbonez, is a computer engineering graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University.

Currently, Chocolate City Records has signed Blaqbonez. The Hip-hop rapper, now 24 years old, was conceived on January 29, 1996.

Blaqbonez began displaying his talent at the young age of 16, winning first place out of more than 3000 rappers in Nigeria in a Zombie contest run by Terry the Rapman.

This led to him being featured in the Terry World Domination album with Vector, Olamide, Mode 9, and Spellz which was later released in 2012.

In 2019, Blaqbonez was profiled by New York Times has one of the futures of Nigerian music.

He is best known for his controversial ‘Best Rapper in Africa’ (short for ‘BRIA’), which became the most discussed hip-hop space issue among Nigerians in 2020 after he released his single ‘Haba’.

8. LADIPOE

Ladipo Eso popularly known as Ladipoe or Poe is a Nigerian rapper and musician. On 28 February 2017, Ladipoe signed a record deal with Mavin Records. He rose to prominence with the song “Feel Alright” where he got featured by SDC “Show Dem Camp”.

7. DREMO

Aboriomoh Femi Raymond, known by his stage name Dremo, is a Nigerian songwriter, singer, record producer, recording artist, and stage performer.[1] He is currently signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW).

6. Erigga

Erhiga Agarivbie, popularly known as “Erigga”, comes from Warri, Delta State in Nigeria.

Erigga is a renowned rapper and songwriter. Early 2010, Erigga began his music career in the Nigerian music industry.

In 2012, Erigga released his debut song “Mo Street Gan”. Erigga rose to fame when he released his song called “A trip to the South” in 2017.

In 2018, Erigga again released a track called “Motivation” with Victor AD. On YouTube, this song received over 1 million views.

On July 27, 2020, Erigga announced on his official Twitter account @erigganewmoney the release of his fifth campaign, “ Growth”.

Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, popularly known as Phyno, is regarded as one of the best rappers in Nigeria. Phyno is currently at number 5 on our list due to his diversity in his style of rap.

Phyno is a rapper, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He started his music career in 2003 and since then he has been consistent in the music world releasing different types of rap music consecutively.

Phyno was born into the music business in 2014 after releasing songs titled “No guts, no glory”, “Ghost mode” and “Parcel”.

Currently, Phyno holds a personal record of being the only Nigerian artiste to completely fill a stadium during his concert “Phyno Fest” in Enugu.

Mr Gbafun just like most of the talented rappers who came from the street started rapping at a tender age in pursuit to lay a legacy in the game. Mr Gbafun covers to bad and boujee done via chart-topping American trio the Migos, followed by “Owo mi da” caught the attention of Chocolate City honcho MI Abaga, who promptly provided him a profitable label deal. He signed him alongside Candy Bleakz to his label, reinvigorated and rebranded the quartet then sent them off on diverse radio and television promo tours.

Recently, according to his latest release, rumors have it that he’s no longer signed under Chocolate City as his latest song “Unfollow Wa” saw him flaunting another label Graunians Entertainment. To confirm this, the album cover of his latest release bears the new record label information with nothing linking to Chocolate City. It might be that his deal with the Label has expired or he is not in good terms with the label and had moved on, but for now, we keep our legs crossed as the full story is not yet leaked to us. 3. Reminisce

Popularly known as Reminisce (ALAGA IBILE), Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru hails from Ogun state. Reminisce raps fluently in both his native language Yoruba and English.

He was one of the prominent Nigerian musicians who started the music industry in 2008 when he was registered with EDGE records.

He is also the founder and creative director of LRR facilities. Reminisce has released three new albums since the beginning of his career.

Remilekun’s first album, Book of rap stories was released in March 2012, a follow up was his second album “Alaga ibile” which was released in November 2013, and his third album “Baba Hafusa” was released in 2015.

Some people see Reminisce as the fastest Yoruba singer in Nigeria and it is clear that he is one of the best rappers in Nigeria.

Reminisce became the first African hip-hop musician to have his album debut on Billboard Charts World Music. Reminisce has won numerous major awards both domestically and internationally.

2. M.I

This list would not be complete without the Undisputed Champion and self-acclaimed chairman, M.I. Jude Abaga is a Nigerian rapper and writer who is popularly known as M.I.

He was born on October 4, 1981. He rose to prominence in music in 2008 when he released his debut song “Crowd mentality”, which made him one of the best rappers of all time in the Nigerian music industry.

M.I. has held his crown high as the best rapper in Nigeria for many years now and we believe he still has more juice left in his tank.

M.I received several awards and was nominated for additional awards too. Some of the awards he has received include the Headies Award, the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, the Future Awards, National Daily awards, Orange Wall of Fame, Hip Hop World Awards the Modemen Class, NMVA awards, the MTV Africa Music Awards and many more.

Olamide is one of Nigeria’s most respected and talented Yoruba rappers. Born on March 5th, 1989 Olamide hails from Bariga, Lagos, Nigeria.

Olamide is an indigenous rapper who raps in both Yoruba and English fluently. Oh gosh, he syncopates when rapping.

He released his debut album “Rapsodi” in 2011 while being signed to coded tunes. Badoo, since the beginning of his career releases album every year which puts seven albums in total to his name.

On February 10, 2020, Olamide, who is the CEO of the YBNL, one of the top 10 music record labels in Nigeria, released his ninth album titled 999 which contained 9 tracks.
