The Hisbah Board of Kano State has announced a comprehensive ban on all forms of sports betting in the state. Dr. Mujaheed Aminuddeen, the Deputy Commander-General of the board, made this announcement during a press conference in Kano, emphasizing the board’s dedication to combating immorality.
As part of this initiative, the Hisbah has re-launched its “Operation Flush Out Immorality,” aimed at identifying and addressing individuals and groups that violate the state’s moral standards. Dr. Aminuddeen also cautioned landlords against renting properties to unidentified individuals, responding to concerns about residential homes being converted into lodgings and motels.
Additionally, new regulations have been introduced to oversee courtship practices in Kano. Couples are now prohibited from sitting in tinted vehicles, especially at night, during their courtship. The board’s directives also target street begging, particularly among women. Female beggars found outside late at night will be apprehended, and women using tricycles after 10 p.m. will also face consequences as part of efforts to curb the rising issue of prostitution.
Dr. Aminuddeen warned that violations of these new regulations would result in significant penalties. He urged parents to be vigilant, particularly concerning their daughters, to prevent any actions that could lead to legal trouble. The Hisbah board remains steadfast in its mission to promote morality in Kano and encourages residents to adhere to the new regulations for the betterment of society.
