“I’ve been making music since 14” – Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi has revealed that he began his musical journey at the age of 14 while simultaneously pursuing a professional football career. The Super Eagles midfielder shared this during an interview with *TheCable* in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on Wednesday.

In March 2024, the 28-year-old footballer surprised his millions of social media followers by unveiling his hidden musical talent. Iwobi posted a brief snippet of his unreleased rap music under the alias “17,” where he showcased his rapping skills over a UK Drill instrumental, paired with a montage of his football highlights.

Later, in June 2024, the Fulham player released an energetic track titled “Don’t Shoot.”

Discussing his musical talents, Iwobi explained that he had been balancing both music and football since his teenage years. He noted that while this revelation is new to the public, he has been involved in music for a long time.

Iwobi also mentioned that he has “so many unreleased songs” and that his team is responsible for deciding the right time to release them.

“The area I grew up in in London is either you play football or become an artiste. I was doing a bit of both,” Iwobi said.

“It is only recently that I started showcasing that I like music, but I have been doing music since the age of 14. It is a surprise to the world because I am just publishing it, but I have been doing it for a very long time.

“Anytime my major team that handles my music and I think it is the best time to put out music, then we will put it out. They know best. Whenever they think its right. But until then, I have so many unreleased songs.”
