Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has launched his third attempt to gain release from custody, with his defense team maintaining his innocence and asserting that all sexual encounters were entirely consensual.
His legal representatives recently filed new documents, obtained by DailyMail.com, arguing that the music mogul poses “no threat to the community” while detained on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. Combs has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges against him.
In a prior court appearance, a federal judge in New York denied his bail request, citing allegations that Diddy had attempted to contact witnesses. However, in today’s appeal, his attorneys noted that he had reached out to a potential witness with that person’s legal counsel’s consent.
The United States Attorney’s Office will have the chance to respond to Diddy’s appeal, although it’s unlikely that the issue will be taken up in court this week.
At 54 years old, Combs has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since he pleaded not guilty on September 17 to federal charges that claim he exploited his “power and prestige” to coerce female victims into participating in drug-influenced, elaborate sexual performances with male sex workers, referred to as “Freak Offs.” Additionally, several other alleged victims have filed lawsuits against Combs, including claims of sexual assault.
